A sit down with... Andy Stokes, the voice of Meadow Lane If you have been to Notts County's Meadow Lane ground in the past few seasons, You'll have heard Andy's voice on the speaker system. I "sat down" with Andy discussing how he became the voice of Meadow Lane, How a matchday looks for a stadium announcer, Wembley playoff final & much more!  Firstly, how did you get the job of stadium announcer and become The Voice of Meadow Lane?   Since 2012 I have been a volunteer at the club. First starting off as photographer for the youth team, then after a few years covering some events at Meadow Lane, and on a match day taking players to meet sponsors, taking photos. As covid hit and matches were going to be played behind closed doors, there was a limit on photographers, and sadly I was down the list. But an opening came for up for the stadium announcer. He’s my biggest hero and I owe a lot to him.  Biggest influence?   My grandad, he motivated and inspired me massively growing up. He still does motivate me every day to make him proud, he recently passed away but the influence he’s had on me is massive.  Favourite current player?  Alisson & Onana - they’re such good technically aware goalkeepers who like to play with the ball at their feet.  Best ground you’ve played at?  North Ferriby FC - ground was like an absolute carpet.    Best friend in football?   I have many good friends in football - I would say Jamie Clark

Notts Olympic - 100 Years In The Making On Saturday 16/09/2023. The newly reformed Notts Olympic will play their 1st home game in over 100 years.  To look on from the outside. This is just a new team who play their football in The Notts Senior League Division 2. However with an historic name and a modern way of doing things. Notts Olympic are a little bit different. One of the original clubs for organised football with games dating back to 1882. In 1884 Notts Olympic competed in their 1st ever FA Cup match losing 2-0 to Notts County. With a goal of playing in the famous cup competition again.  Notts Olympic player Herbert Kilpin may not ever have been a household name around Nottingham but while working in the textile trade in Italy. He was one of the founders of the Italian giant now known as AC Milan.  Ahead of their 1st home game in over 100 years. In Profile...  Romaine Graham of Eastwood CFC Name:  Romaine Graham Position:  Centre Half Current Club: Eastwood Community FC   Previous clubs:   The midlands 😅 Newark,  Long Eaton,  Ilkeston,  Carlton Town,  Rainworth,  Hucknall,  Mickleover Sports,  Grantham Town,  Eastwood Town Team supported growing up?   Man United, the class of 92 were a joke.   Childhood hero?   Ryan Giggs. I grew up as a winger and idolised Giggs. His simple way of dribbling past players. Biggest influence?   Mark Nangle, Hucknall Town U18 manager. we had some memorable journeys and FA youth Cup runs. He gave up his time to take us. Football helped me focus and stay out of trouble. Favourite current player?  I would have to say an inform Modric. The way he can dominate a game reminds me of the players I grew up watching. when football was less driven by stats.
