Team supported growing up? Nottingham Forest

 

Childhood hero? Gianfranco Zola… Just loved to watch the little magician. Turned out to be one of the nicest men in football as well.   

 

Biggest influence? I’d have to say watching my Dad’s Sunday morning team Man in Space growing up. This is what gave me the love for football. People snob Sunday morning football but for me it’s football at its purist form.  

 

Favourite current player? Hate to give the answer to the last question away but… Lionel Messi. For me he’s the greatest ever. He makes the ridiculous look easy. Fancy him to lift the World Cup in Qatar

 

Best ground you’ve played at? Always loved Harworth Colliery. Fantastic welfare after!

 

Best friend in football? Jack James. Not just a “football friend” one of my best friends, be lost without him.

 

Best player you’ve played against & why? Ben Pringle. Played in a charity tournament at Derby with and against all the pros, he stood out a mile for me.   

 

Footballing Night out You & 4 others. Who’s getting an invite? Brice Samba, Michail Antonio, Jeff Stelling & Chris Kamara.

 

Your All time 5 a side team of players you have played with? 

1 Keeper: - Liam ‘Baz’ Bailey – The best keeper I’ve ever seen at 5 a side.

1 Defender: - Greg Conn – Amazing defender with an eye for goal.

2 Midfielders: - Jack James – Loves a tackle, brilliant with the ball, just shit at shooting.

Rhys Dolan – Can’t speak highly enough of this lad, he has everything and a great lad to match.

1 Striker – Kieran Knight – Loved playing with him at Eastwood. Just watch his goal against Ilkeston in the FA Vase. That’s all I need to say.

 

Best moment of your career? Winning the league & cup on the same night is up there. But for me it’s got to be getting back playing after recovering from cancer after bouts of chemotherapy and major operations. Just getting back playing was the best moment for me   

 

Go to initiation song? And I am telling you – Jennifer Hudson. Leave it all on the dancefloor when this is on.

 

Pre match meal? Poached eggs on toast.

 

Messi or Ronaldo? Messi. I’d take fat Ronaldo over Cristiano!
