Team supported growing up? Sunderland

 

Childhood hero? David Beckham, everything about him just oozes class. England captain, playing for Real Madrid, unbelievable footballer. Very underrated in my opinion.    

 

Biggest influence? I would say my Dad, he took me everywhere. The one I remember was when I went on trial at Stoke City, I was about 13, and he would take me three times a week after work, absolute slog!!  

 

Favourite current player? Haaland for me. He is actually too good at football. I hope he continues to be how he is, but he is an alien, power, strength, football ability is scary.

 

Best ground you’ve played at? Mapei Stadium in Italy. Sassuolo who are in Serie A at the moment they play there. I think I loved it because it was packed out and the Italian national anthem was unbelievable.

 

Best friend in football? Jordan Keane who currently plays for Halifax, won the league with Stockport last season. Been best mates since year 7 in school and both went on to be professional football players.  

 

Best player you’ve played against & why? I have played against a few to be fair, but it has to be Didier Drogba & Wesley Sneijder. Drogba just because its him and Sneijder I’ve never seen anything like, so sharp. That’s when I realised the levels in football are crazy.    

 

Footballing Night out You & 4 others. Who’s getting an invite? Jack Grealish played with him at Notts County, what a guy! I’m gonna go George Best as well, imagine that night out. David Beckham to make me look cool and hopefully good looking, and my mate Jordan from Halifax so he can experience it as well haha.

 

Your All time 5 a side team of players you have played with? 

1 Keeper: - Bartosz Bialkowski – Polish international who has played most of his career in the Championship, lovely bloke as well.

1 Defender: - Gary Liddle – So consistent, literally 8/10 or more each week.

2 Midfielders: - Jack Grealish – Best player I’ve ever played with and seen

Andre Boucard – Unbelievable, only ever played lower leagues but I’m surprised hes never played in the Prem. What a player and what a guy.

1 Striker – Matt Rhead – Played with him at Lincoln City, doesn’t look like your typical football player but was so good, and you really have to play with him day in day out to realise how good he is!

 

Best moment of your career? I’ve had a lot of good moments to be honest, making my debut at Notts County in League One, being called up for Northern Ireland. I like to look at every moment as good because it is a short career so you have to take everything you get out of it.    

 

Go to initiation song? Amy Winehouse – Valerie. When your voice is like mine it’s just too easy.  

 

Pre match meal? I literally have a biggish breakfast, so sausage sandwiches let’s say and then I don’t really eat again till after the game, I always have done this, probably eat some sweets leading up to the game and a Lucozade but that’s it, probably the nerves haha.

 

Messi or Ronaldo? Silly silly question. Messi all day long and if England don’t win The World Cup, I really want Argentina to win The World Cup so we can one and for all settle the debate.
